This is not meant as a criticism just to raise awareness. Flat transfers often would be panned for their EQ choices even though there was no EQ. The mastering engineer from the current version of MFSL pointed out to me that many master tapes have a dire need of EQ. If I recall, and my copy was sold a while ago, the MFSL had a somewhat bright EQ.īy the way, MFSL releases are not compressed but I have it from the horses mouth that they often have equalization applied. Though I admit I liked the liquidity of the bass lines on the MFSL. Even though the MFSL was on great vinyl and was treated well, it still had surface noise. But I prefer a good digital source to vinyl. For vinyl that was a keeper, though not all would agree. In my view, The finest digital version (notice I did not say CD) is the 24 bit 48 khz version on the USB stick. With the de-emphasis, it sounds good but I think the 2009 version is actually an improvement. I have what is supposed to be a properly de-emphasized version of the Toshiba in flac format.
